Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a standalone expansion to Far Cry 3, developed by Ubisoft and released in 2013. It takes a radical departure from the main game’s setting, embracing a retro-futuristic aesthetic inspired by 1980s action movies, sci-fi, and video games. Set in an alternate version of the year 2007, after a nuclear war, the game is a satirical homage to the pop culture of the era, featuring neon-soaked visuals, over-the-top characters, and cheesy one-liners.
Players take on the role of Sergeant Rex “Power” Colt, a cyber-commando voiced by actor Michael Biehn (famous for The Terminator and Aliens). Tasked with stopping his former commander, Colonel Sloan, who has gone rogue with plans to destroy the world, Rex battles his way through an island filled with cyborg soldiers, mutants, and the titular Blood Dragons—giant, glowing creatures with deadly laser vision.
